A "New Compilation" window opens - pick the first choice, which says ".and/or burn an ISO image.".Also note that some versions of windows (mainly 98) and filesystems (FAT16, FAT32) can't cope with files over 4GB (XP on NTFS is fine). Otherwise reencode with VLC, knocking the bitrate down a bit (the 4 mbps mp2v/192k mp2a works fine, with a full-length video). If the resulting ISO is Select Options, type in a name you want for the video.
These are good, free tools, and you will need to install both of these.
This example shows how to create a DVD using DVDHive and CDBurnerXP. Note that this may be necessary to create a mpeg2 file that is DVD compatible Note that the sout-ffmpeg-strict-rc, or strict rate control, flag can be permanently set in the Preferences as an Advanced Option under Input/Codecs->Other Codecs->FFmpeg. To encode the full thing, just use the same command without the -stop-time=20. This is so you can then view the output and make sure it looks OK.
asf source movie is a 640x480 frame grabber. Standard DVD "letterbox" has an aspect ratio of 16:9. You need to specify this so that the transcoding doesn't make the output video "fat", stretch things to fit the wider DVD width.
For instance, a Webcam or framegrabber with 640x480 or 320x240 resolution has an -aspect-ratio of 4:3. Use the -aspect-ratio switch to control things.Set the -sout-ffmpeg-strict-rc (see notes below).Set the -sout-ffmpeg-keyint to 16 (possibly not needed, but I use this and it works).Set the -sout-transcode-fps to match your target, using 29.97 for NTSC, 25 for PAL.A DVD format file should be 720x480 resolution for NTSC, or 720x576 resolution for PAL.If you need more channels, use a52 and increase the bitrate budget 64 or 96K/channel (2 channels 192K, 6 channel 384K.
